Audit and assurance update

Course objectives

This course is designed to provide accountants in practice with a practical overview of the recent changes in UK audit regulations and to consider how these changes may impact on their current procedures and documentation (regardless of what audit methodology is used). The course will also look at regulatory changes not yet implemented and other proposals to consider what impact these may have on your firm’s audit methodology.

Typical content

  • New and revised ISAs (UK and Ireland)
  • Recent guidance from professional bodies such as ICAEW and ACCA
  • Comment and feedback from regulatory visits of auditors whether from the FRC or professional bodies
  • Changes to the Ethical Standard
  • Summary of any changes to company law that may be relevant such as audit exemption limits

Typical practical work

  • Review and critique of existing audit documentation
  • Example case studies on new issues such as professional scepticism
  • Quiz questions on issues such as entitlement to various audit exemptions

Duration and guideline fee

The typical course is 3 hours although a 6 hour course which includes coverage of the all the significant developments in more practical detail may be preferred.
